EXPERIENCE THE JOY OF THE JOYFUL PATH: LAMRIM RETREAT
Sept. 27th-28th, 2014
Lamrim Retreat: Taking the pathway to Inner Freedom
“We want to be happy all the time, even during sleep. How can we do this? We can do this through training in meditation because meditation makes our mind peaceful, and when our mind is peaceful we are happy all the time.” – How to Understand the Mind, pp 277-278.
Ideal for newcomers, those familiar with Lamrim, and those wishing to rediscover the magic of meditation.
EVERYBODY WELCOME, whether Buddhist or not
Stages of the Path, or in Tibetan ‘Lamrim’, is a special meditative arrangement of all Buddha’s teachings that is easy to understand and put into practice. The guided portion of the retreat is all day Saturday, September 27th and all day Sunday, September 28th. You can feel free to come to just Saturday, just Sunday or both days!
Each retreat session will be an inner journey to emotional freedom through receiving 20 minutes of a teaching on the meditation, 25 minutes of guided meditation and 15 minutes of chanted prayers. In this retreat we will learn to concentrate and meditate on virtuous objects: objects that make the mind peaceful and happy and we will be following the special new presentation of the 14 meditations at the back of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s new book: How to Understand the Mind.
Developing an understanding of these meditations will bring inner change and solve our daily problems. Ultimately they will give rise to a complete transformation of our mind through the power of wisdom and compassion. On Saturday we will learn how to let go of suffering states of mind so that we can attain emotional freedom, or “liberation” as we call it in Buddhism. On Sunday we will learn the meditations on loving kindness which will help us to improve all of our relationships. See retreat session times below. All Sessions are with Resident Teacher, Kadam Heather.
