Becoming a Friend of The World
Many people have the altruistic wish to benefit others, but few understand how to accomplish this successfully in daily life. Bodhisattvas are friends of the world, which means that they care about all living beings. Through the force of their strong compassion, they engage in six special practices, called the six perfections, that enable them to transform all their activities into methods for helping and benefiting everyone. Geshe Kelsang emphasized that the first three of the six perfections can be practiced by anyone. He called them three basic practices. We can use these three basic practices to benefit everyone in our daily life.
