Eight Steps to Happiness

A Buddhist meditation class for challenging times.

Based on the famous Eight Verses of Training the Mind by the great Bodhisattva, Langri Tangpa, this inspiring series will teach methods for transforming all life’s difficulties into valuable spiritual insights and for developing universal love and compassion, the source of true happiness for both self and others. Over the weeks, you will get an introduction to the essential aspects of the eight steps with particular emphasis on applying them immediately in daily life for greater happiness, resilience and peace.

Lunchtime Meditation

Mon, Tues, Wed | 12:15- 12:45pm | 

Our 30-minute lunchtime classes are an enjoyable way to ease into meditation. Each class begins with a fifteen minute teaching explaining how to engage in one of six different meditations. Then the teacher guides the students in the meditation so they gain personal experience of it.

Learn to Meditate

Learn how to start and maintain a regular meditation practice. The reason we are not happy in our life is because our mind is filled with negative thoughts and feelings such as anger, depression, anxiety and jealousy.  Meditation causes this negativity to settle and allows a peaceful state of mind to arise.  When our mind is peaceful we are happy.  Everyone is welcome.

Heart Jewel is a special practice for developing compassion, wisdom, and spiritual strength by relying on the Wisdom Buddha Je Tsongkhapa, and for overcoming obstacles and difficulties in our meditation (Dharma) practice by relying on the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden.

Lamrim | The Stages of the Path

Tuesday Evenings | 6pm - 7:30 pm | Series Ends September 28 | 

In this class we will practice Lamrim following the instructions given by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso in various texts. This class and is suitable for anyone who wishes to learn or deepen their experience of Lamrim meditations. The class will start with a guided meditation to relax our mind. The teacher will explain the purpose of the day’s meditation and how to engage in the practice. Following the explanation the teacher will guide the meditation, allowing several minutes of silence for your own personal contemplation. We will use Prayers for Meditation in this class.

This is a special practice of relying upon our Spiritual Guide as a Buddha and making praises and requests, but it also contains beautiful essential instructions on all the stages of the path to enlightenment and training the mind, as well as both the generation stage and completion stage of Highest Yoga Tantra.

Wishfulfilling Jewel is a special practice for developing compassion, wisdom, and spiritual strength by relying on the Wisdom Buddha Je Tsongkhapa, and for overcoming obstacles and difficulties in our meditation (Dharma) practice by relying on the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden.

35 minutes guided relaxation meditation
25 minute talk on how to put an aspect of Buddha’s teachings into practice for a greater experience of peace in daily life

Meaningful to Behold by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. Many people have the compassionate wish to benefit others, but few understand how to accomplish this successfully in daily life.
