Meditation and Buddhism in Portland

Drop-in Classes

Everyone welcome! Meditation classes are offered on Sunday mornings, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. These classes are suitable for all individuals whatever their level of interest, from those who seek simple relaxation to those who wish to find lasting inner peace (what to expect at a class). We offer Buddha’s timeless teachings in a simple, practical way to help solve daily problems and create the real peace and happiness we all long for.

Mahasiddha Kadampa Buddhist Center has arisen from the pure intention and vision of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the Founder of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union, and is dedicated to the happiness and freedom from suffering of every living being. Weʼve been in Portland since 1997 offering activities such as drop-in meditation classes, day courses, retreats, and chanted prayers for the Buddhist and non-Buddhist alike.

Check our current calendar for a full listing of all the events at Mahasiddha.

New Kadampa Tradition
Welcome to the 5th tier!

Watch this amazing video from IKRC Arizona as the structure for the fifth tier of the Temple is put in place.

Even though the various elements were manufactured off-site, when they were assembled and lowered into place it was a perfect fit! A powerful testimony to the great skill of the architect, project manager, steel fabricators and everyone else involved in the process!

The new Temple in Arizona is the first of a new design of five-tier temples to be built (see diagram), and the structures for all five tiers are now in place.

On top of the fifth tier, the lantern base will be installed, which was constructed at Manjushri KMC and shipped to to Arizona a few weeks ago, where it is currently being gilded (see photos).

Then on this the actual lantern canopy will assembled with the components also manufactured at Manjushri KMC and delivered to Arizona in the last shipment (see photos).

Stand by for further updates.
