Meditation and Buddhism in Portland

Drop-in Classes

Everyone welcome! Meditation classes are offered on Sunday mornings, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. These classes are suitable for all individuals whatever their level of interest, from those who seek simple relaxation to those who wish to find lasting inner peace (what to expect at a class). We offer Buddha’s timeless teachings in a simple, practical way to help solve daily problems and create the real peace and happiness we all long for.

Mahasiddha Kadampa Buddhist Center has arisen from the pure intention and vision of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the Founder of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union, and is dedicated to the happiness and freedom from suffering of every living being. Weʼve been in Portland since 1997 offering activities such as drop-in meditation classes, day courses, retreats, and chanted prayers for the Buddhist and non-Buddhist alike.

Check our current calendar for a full listing of all the events at Mahasiddha.

Northwest Dharma Celebration at Kadampa Meditation Center Washington

About the Event
The annual Northwest Dharma Celebration is a wonderful opportunity for people throughout the region to gather together to receive practical, inspiring teachings and meet spiritual friends. Whether new to Buddhism or an experienced practitioner, everyone is welcome at this joyous and meaningful event.

The blessing empowerment of Buddha Shakyamuni, the founder of Buddhism in this world, will be granted by Gen Rigpa. Buddha Shakyamuni's teachings and example inspire the realization of our own potential and guide us toward freedom from ordinary limitations and fear. By making a special connection with Buddha Shakyamuni, we can discover a profound inner wisdom that swiftly leads to deep and lasting happiness. Gen Rigpa will also give teachings and commentary to The Liberating Prayer, opening the door to a deeper understanding and appreciation of what it means to be a modern day Buddhist practitioner.
