Everyone Welcome!

About Us

Our Purpose

Everyone welcome!  Meditation classes are offered on Sunday mornings, Tuesday and
Thursday evenings. These classes are suitable for all individuals whatever their level of
interest, from those who seek simple relaxation to those who wish to find lasting inner
peace (what to expect at a class). We offer Buddha’s timeless teachings in a simple, practical way to help solve daily problems and create the real peace and happiness we all long for.

Mahasiddha Kadampa Buddhist Center has arisen from the pure intention and vision of
Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the Founder of the New Kadampa Tradition –
International Kadampa Buddhist Union, and is dedicated to the happiness and freedom
from suffering of every living being. Weʼve been in Portland since 1997 offering activities
such as drop-in meditation classes, day courses, retreats, and chanted prayers for the
Buddhist and non-Buddhist alike.

Check our current calendar for a full listing of all the events at Mahasiddha.

Tara is a female Buddha, the beautiful embodiment of fearless enlightened wisdom. Tara means ‘liberator’ in that she liberates all beings from all fear and suffering. During this empowerment, we will engage in a blissful guided meditation through which we make a deep connection with Tara’s enlightened mind. Through receiving her powerful blessings we can swiftly actualize our own potential for fearless wisdom and compassionate action.

Cost $65, includes a delicious vegetarian lunch. Everyone is welcome to attend.

"In short, we need others for our physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Without others we are nothing. Our sense that we are an island, an independent, self sufficient individual, bears no relation to reality. It is closer to the truth to picture ourself as a cell in the vast body of life, distinct yet intimately bound up with all living beings. We cannot exist without others, and they in turn are affected by everything we do." ~ Geshe Kelsang Gyatso from the book "Eight Steps to Happiness." ...
